It’s come to our attention that  several new publishers are being referred to us by Adam Horwitz of cellphonetreasure.com. Adam is an 18-year-old college freshman who has put together a marketing course for anyone wanting to make money in mobile advertising. While there is nothing wrong with this in and of itself, Mr. Horwitz makes promises that may not be the most reliable. For example, he claims that if you give mobile marketing 20-30 minutes a day after watching his course, the “money comes in automatically.” If this is true, then we here at Sponsormob are missing something, because we work a lot longer than a half hour each day to earn our income!

The other problem here is that many of these affiliates are just starting out in online marketing and don’t have a complete grasp on how it all works. We are seeing problems particularly with targeting, as publishers starting out after watching the cell phone treasure course do not always know how to properly target ads. The result of this is poorly run campaigns and frustrated publishers.

So while we love acquiring new partners, we want new affiliates to know that there is a learning curve in online and mobile marketing that probably can not be reached through one online course. Affiliate marketing, even on the mobile web, is not a get-rich-quick scheme and there are skills and knowledge that must be acquired before success can credited. Our advice is to simply be careful when starting out in affiliate marketing after one online course. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and successful marketing skills aren’t usually gained after a single course.
