Innovation in mobile advertising: Click-to-CallSeptember 30th, 2011 by Talya
It’s no secret that mobile marketing opens up new doors for companies wanting to market their goods and services to potential customers. Considering the number of global mobile internet users (Germany alone has several million), ads on the mobile web have the potential of reaching millions of users worldwide. Not only are mobile ads likely to reach a massive audience, but that audience can also be targeted so that ads only reach those who are likely to actually become paying customers.
The possibilities in mobile are seemingly endless, and new technology is expanding what can be achieved through mobile marketing. One of the latest innovations is Click-to-Call, which is starting to gain traction in mobile advertising. With Click-to-Call, users viewing an ad from their mobile device have the ability to click on an icon within the ad itself and instantly be connected to the company advertising the good or service.
Click-to-Call is a win-win situation for the customer and the advertiser. Users interested in a product or service can connect directly with the company’s call center and either make a purchase, subscribe to a service, or find out more information without having to send a message or remember to make a call at some point later. Advertisers also benefit from the instant connection with potential customers, as the sales funnel is shortened via direct access to users.
Sponsormob is proud to be one of the first mobile networks offering Click-to-Call to its advertisers, so if this is something your company is interested in using as parts of its marketing strategy, please be sure to contact us. We are happy to be able to offer our advertisers the ability to connect with the best possible users, so take advantage of this!
Our most recent events: ad:tech London, dmexco, and MobileMonday Developer SummitSeptember 28th, 2011 by Talya
As we’ve mentioned before, this year’s super-busy event season has officially begun, and we are right in the middle of it. Last week, Sponsormob was in two places at once: Dmexco, in Köln, and ad:tech London. We did not exhibit at Dmexco as we did in 2010, but we visited the event and had meetings there with several partners. The event was busy and buzzing with companies from Europe, the US, Israel, and beyond.
We did actually exhibit at ad:tech London. This included a few long days with a busy exhibition and networking parties at night. We always enjoy ad:tech events, and this year in London was no exception. It was great, and we are already making plans for next year’s event, as well as looking forward to ad:tech New York in November.
This week our event schedule continued in Bucharest. I visited Romania to attend the Eastern European Mobile Monday Developers Summit (yes, that’s a mouthful!). It was Sponsormob’s first event in Romania, and my first time visiting the country, so it was most definitely interesting. Although the event was on the small side, there were attendees from across Eastern Europe and Israel, making for a very interesting mix.
View photos from the events on Flickr, and keep an eye out here and we will keep you posted on future events in mobile and digital marketing!
DmexcoSeptember 15th, 2011 by Talya
Next week Dmexco, Germany’s largest digital marketing event, is taking place in Köln. The event is massive and includes a conference and trade show/exhibition, with hundreds of exhibitors booked and roughly 17,000 visitors from Germany and elsewhere expected to attend. This year’s speaker list includes experts in social media, communications, mobile marketing, and more.
This year, Sponsormob will not be exhibiting at Dmexco, although we did exhibit there in 2010. However, we will be attending the event. Our CEO and Co-Founder, Peter Glaeser, will be at the event, as well as our new Director of Business Development, Heiko Kasper. Anyone who is will be at Dmexco and would like to meet with one of them can contact me to arrange a meeting time and place.

Planet of the Apps is an event that brings together app developers, telecommunications companies, and marketers to network and discuss the future of apps. It is a four-day conference with sessions divided by topic, covering the latest in the world of app development. Panel discussions, speed networking, live debates, and roundtable discussions by industry experts are all a part of the event. The event takes place at the Royal Garden Hotel in London from October 4-7.
Rose Silford, one of our Account Managers, will be at the event for two days – October 4-5. She will be attending the conference sessions and networking. Anyone who will be at the event or in London around that time who would like to meet with us, contact me to set up a meeting with Rose. To register for Planet of the Apps, visit the event website.
Our experience at Hamburg National DaySeptember 9th, 2011 by Talya
Earlier this week Heiko Kasper, our new Director of Business Development, spent the day in Hamburg to attend the Mobile National Day event. The focus of the conference was mobile couponing and the publishing world, and most sessions revolved around online and mobile marketing in publishing.
The event itself was somewhat small, but as they say in German, it was “klein aber fein,” meaning small but nice (unfortunately the phrase doesn’t have quite the same meaning and sound in English, but you get the idea). The event was well-attended though, with roughly one hundred professionals from around Germany participating. The presentations were also interesting, covering the latest trends in couponing in Europe and elsewhere.
Based on this year’s experience, we will likely participate at future Mobile National Days events. Their next conferences will be later this year in London and Salzburg, and will also take place in Prague and Sofia in 2012 (dates are yet to be confirmed). Information on their upcoming events can be found on the Mobile National Days event website.
The takeover of mobile display adsSeptember 8th, 2011 by Talya
It is no secret that the mobile internet is growing in regions all around the world at a pretty amazing rate. But sometimes it’s interesting to see numbers that show us just how massive mobile advertising is becoming, especially when compared to other forms of advertising. Recent studies on mobile advertising spend show that mobile marketing is on its way to take over traditional online spend and possibly even TV ad spend.
A report published by Flurry shows that in-app mobile advertising inventory is set to take over the entire online display ad spend by the end of 2011 (MobileMarketingWatch). According to the article by Mobile Marketing Watch, over 600 thousand apps are available worldwide for more than 350 million Android and iOS devices. The average number of apps per user turns out to be roughly sixty-five, and the number of ads per app-session were shown to be right around 4.3, according to the apps tracked in the study.
Not only is the mobile internet swamping online ad spend, but it is catching up with TV advertising as well. Just to clarify, mobile advertising alone isn’t taking over television ad spend – at least, not yet. However, interactive marketing (including online and mobile display advertising) is set to surpass TV marketing spend in the United States within the next five years, according to Forrester Research (Business2Community.com). The same study by Forrester Research also shows that mobile paid advertising and search will continue to skyrocket and are even expected to surpass email advertising as well as social ads this year, which proves what we have been seeing – expansive growth in mobile across all sectors. Companies who have not yet started advertising on the mobile internet should consider doing so in 2012, as the industry will only continue to grow.
ad:tech New YorkSeptember 5th, 2011 by Talya
This November, we will once again head to New York City for ad:tech New York. It will be our third ad:tech event this year (San Francisco and London are the others) and we are gearing up for a busy show. This year’s ad:tech New York will take place November 8-10 at the Jacob K. Javits Center (655 West 34th Street, New York). Several interesting speakers have been lined up for the conference, including Facebook’s VP of Advertising and Global Operations, David Fischer, and Wendy Clark, Sr. VP of Integrated Marketing Communications & Capabilities at The Coca Cola Company.
Several of us will be at the event, including our COO, Jet Patel, Verena Witkowski (Head of Publishers), Joe Niederberger (US Business Development Manager), and myself (Talya Shoup Burnett – Public Relations Manager). We will be exhibiting at the event and can be found at booth #1350. Please stop by and see us, or contact me if you would like to set up a meeting with us. See you there!
Our experience at Affiliate Summit East 2011September 2nd, 2011 by Talya
We recently exhibited at the Affiliate Summit East 2011 Meet Market in New York City and as always, the event was fantastic. We exhibit at several events throughout the year, and Affiliate Summit is one we try not to miss. The event is always busy, fun, and worthwhile for us to participate in, and this year was no exception.
Of course, no event is ever pulled off perfectly, and this was also no exception. This go-around, our display stand got lost somewhere between Berlin and New York. So yes, we exhibited at ASE without a display, but we did have business cards, great give-aways, and our lovely selves to more than make up for the slightly bare space that was our Meet Market Table. And in the end, the event worked out well and was worth being a part of.
We’ve posted pictures of the event on our Flickr page, so take a look if you’d like to see some of the event happenings and, of course, the City.
