LeadsCon East

June 26th, 2012 by Talya

Our VP of Business Development for North America, Brendhan Hight,  who was recently at Internet Retailer in Chicago, will be visiting New York the end of July for LeadsCon East. We exhibited earlier this year at LeadsCon West in Las Vegas, and had a great time (and not just because we were in Sin City, we promise!).

The LeadsCon events focus on online lead generation, and in our opinion are very advertiser-focused and from our experience worth attending. The exhibition is not huge, but the visitors there are definitely there to do business, so companies interested in meeting potential clients should be there.

If you’re planning on being at LeadsCon next month and wishing to connect with someone from Sponsormob, please email Brendhan to set up a time and place to meet. See you there!

Internet Retailer, Chicago

June 13th, 2012 by Talya

Last week our VP of Business Development for North America, Brendhan Hight, visited the Internet Retailer conference in Chicago for the first time. The organizers claim that it is the world’s largest e-commerce event, and the event apparently was in fact massive.

What was surprising about the event is that mobile didn’t play much of a role, and according to Brendhan, many of the huge retailers who were active at the event still have not made mobile a priority. Sure, it was a retail event revolving around the internet, but considering that some studies show 25% of web users in the US accessing the internet from their mobile device only, it seems that mobile would be a larger focus.

We’ll be interested to see mobile play a larger role at future events, and in the meantime, we will continue to be active players in mobile as it continues to grow as an industry.

How Real-Time-Bidding works on Mobile

June 4th, 2012 by Talya

RTB graphic

You probably have heard a lot about Real-Time-Bidding (RTB) lately. It has been an important part of online advertising for some time now and has more recently become part of the mobile advertising landscape as well. Earlier this year, we added RTB technology to our platform to provide better, more highly optimized ad serving for our clients.

What exactly is RTB?

Real-Time-Bidding is technology that makes it possible to bid, purchase, and serve advertising automatically and nearly instantly. With Sponsormob, RTB technology gathers upon our data history, ensuring that ads are placed in the areas where they are most likely to be seen by the right customers. With RTB, ads are also bought on a large scale from various publishers, saving time and leading to better results for advertising spend.

How does Real-Time-Bidding work?

With Real-Time-Bidding on the publisher side, our technology is able to review, in a fraction of a second, several ads which would fit with an ad request. It then automatically bids and purchases the best ad for that space, placing the corresponding ad in that space almost immediately.

The graphic above gives an example of RTB in action. When an ad request is made, the technology behind RTB (called the ‘auction engine,’ for simplicity’s sake) reviews various ads, chooses the best one, and then purchases the space. The ad is then served in that space, resulting in highly targeted ad serving. As the graphic shows, the ads served through Real-Time-Bidding are not always the cheapest, but they are the ones that will prove to be the best-placed ads, resulting in cost-effective advertising on a performance basis.
